Welcome to Together-A-Part
Parenting with compassion, rooted in science
At Together A Part (TAP), we believe every child is a universe of internal parts - some joyful, some hurting, and all of them vital. Our mission is to empower caregivers like you to help children understand and integrate these parts, fostering a sense of wholeness and belonging.
Through our therapeutic parenting packages and training, we provide the tools to see past behaviours and connect with the child's true needs. If you are a foster or adoptive parent, or work in a children's home, we are here to support you in creating a safe space where children can become their most authentic selves.
Support Packages and Services
We know that when you’re caring for children with complex needs or trauma, standard advice rarely covers the reality of your day-to-day life. There comes a point where general guidance isn't enough; you need deeper insight and a more specialised approach to move forward.
Our focus at Together-A-Part is to provide a clear, therapeutic framework that helps you feel more grounded and prepared. Instead of just reacting to the moment, we look at the 'why' behind a child’s behaviour, giving you the practical tools to create a more stable and connected environment.
Every family and every care arrangement is different, which is why we’ve built our service to be completely flexible. We don’t just offer one-off sessions; we work in partnership with your agency to provide ongoing development that grows alongside you and the children in your care.
It’s about giving you the expertise and the headspace to handle whatever comes your way. We’re here to help you build that foundation of confidence, starting today."
"This training should be available for everyone who has/cares for children. The information from the training course was above and beyond anything we could have ever expected"

Training by topic:
PACE in practice
This training introduces the powerful, trauma-informed parenting model of PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy). It helps you move beyond ineffective discipline by shifting your perspective to understand your child’s behaviour as an expression of their past trauma, allowing you to build a secure, healing connection.
Trauma-Informed Parenting
This essential training offers a concise introduction to the trauma-informed mindset, instantly equipping you to shift from reactive discipline to responsive care. You will learn how early adversity affects the brain's alarm system, giving you immediate, practical de-escalation strategies to understand and manage intense behaviours, reducing family stress and fostering a sense of safety and calm.
The Impact of Domestic Abuse on Children
Discover how exposure to domestic abuse shapes a child’s emotional world, development, and relationships. This training helps carers recognise the hidden signs of trauma, understand how fear and control affect behaviour, and learn practical ways to rebuild safety, trust, and resilience
Behaviour & De-escalation Strategies
This training focuses on understanding challenging behaviour as a form of communication related to past trauma and unmet needs, not willful defiance. It equips you with practical techniques to calm and safely de-escalate intense situations, replacing reactive responses with intentional, connection-focused strategies.
Sleep Success
The 'Sleep Success' webinar offers parents, carers, and professionals a trauma-informed approach to address complex sleep challenges in children who have experienced trauma or have complex needs. Participants will learn to move beyond standard sleep training by understanding how a child's nervous system regulation, attachment needs, and trauma history directly impact their ability to fall and stay asleep. The webinar provides specialised, practical strategies focused on creating a safe, predictable, and calming environment to foster security and achieve consistent, long-term sleep success.
Attachment 101: Building Secure Bonds
This training provides a concise overview of attachment theory, specifically how early trauma and loss impact a child’s ability to trust and connect. It teaches you practical, daily strategies to move away from insecurity and toward a secure attachment, focusing on routines, emotional attunement, and the crucial process of relational repair after conflict.
Exploring Trauma in SEND
Uncover how trauma and special educational needs intersect, shaping the way children think, feel, and respond to the world. This training offers insight into the hidden impact of trauma on learning and behaviour, and provides practical, compassionate strategies to support regulation, connection, and growth.
Wired for Connection
Safety, Trauma and the Digital World. Address common issues that arise with digital use; explore commonly used apps, sites, and games; and understand the risks and relationships associated with technology. Learn how to set effective limits and boundaries on devices without the usual arguments.
Stealing & Lying
Look beyond the behaviour to understand what drives it. This session explores the emotional roots of stealing and lying in children who’ve experienced trauma, helping carers respond with empathy, clear boundaries, and strategies that rebuild trust and security.
Sibling Dynamics
Explore the powerful bonds and complex challenges between siblings who have experienced adversity. This training helps carers understand loyalty, rivalry, trauma triggers, and attachment patterns within sibling groups, and offers practical ways to nurture healthy relationships and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Coping with Ambiguous Loss
This training explores the profound, complex grief—known as Ambiguous Loss—that affects everyone in the foster and adoption constellation, from children missing a family who is "absent but present" to parents grieving a "dream child." It provides a clear framework and practical strategies to acknowledge, validate, and move forward without the need for final "closure."
Advocating for Your Child in School
This training focuses on turning school stress into success by providing foster and adoptive parents with key advocacy skills. You'll learn to clearly communicate the impact of early trauma on learning and behaviour, effectively collaborate with educators, and navigate systems (like special education) to ensure your child receives the specific, trauma-informed support they need to thrive academically and socially.
