Trauma and Complex Needs

At Together A Part, we know that fostering and adoption are journeys rooted in hope, connection and healing, but they also come with unique challenges. Many children who enter care do so carrying hidden wounds; trauma that shapes how they see the world, trust others, and navigate everyday life.

This therapeutic, trauma-informed training is designed specifically for foster carers, adoptive parents, and the professionals who support them. Grounded in attachment and neurobiology, we explore how early experiences of loss, neglect or abuse can lead to complex needs is often expressed through behaviours that are confusing, overwhelming or difficult to manage.

Rather than focusing on control or correction, we help adults to see beneath the surface. Through a lens of empathy and curiosity, this training offers practical tools and reflective insight into how trauma impacts behaviour, how healing relationships are built, and how you can become a safe base for a child’s emotional recovery.

Whether you're a carer looking for deeper understanding, or an Independent Fostering Agency seeking to strengthen your team’s trauma-informed practice, our sessions provide the compassionate, evidence-based foundation needed to support the children in your care.
